Making and using the body parts picture die
This is a design of a 6-sided die. Each side has a picture of a body part and the name of the part in the target language.
Construct the die
- Print the die design PDF onto A3 paper if possible (you will be laminating it too, so will need an A3 sized laminator). If not, print it onto A4 paper.
- Laminate the PDF.
- Cut along the solid lines and fold along the dotted lines. 4.
- Fasten the edges to create the die.
Suggestions for use
Children take turns in rolling the die. Whatever face of the die is on top, children will touch their own corresponding body part (eye, ear, mouth, nose, arm, leg) and say the name of it in the language.
More ideas
- Before the die is rolled, children could guess what body part will be uppermost.
- The memory cards from App 5: The Polyglots at the Circus could be re-used to strengthen language recognition.
- Children could point out the body parts on the die (and the others on the memory cards) on any Polyglots character posters around the room.
