Fruit and colour sorting printables: Instructions

Paper fruit cards

(cloth fruit toys option below)

  1. Print the fruit template onto A4 paper.
  2. Laminate the sheet.
  3. Cut out the fruit cards. You could paste each card onto a wooden block.

Cloth fruit toys

  1. Purchase iron-on transfer paper. This is available from Officeworks, Kmart, Spotlight, Lincraft, Arthouse Direct and other craft supply shops. To fill the toys, you could use wheat or rice.
  2. Print the image onto the transfer paper using an inkjet printer or copier.
  3. Iron the printed images onto fabric. Fabrics such as cotton drill, calico or broadcloth work best.
  4. Lay the piece of fabric with the printed image face down on another piece of the fabric.
  5. Sew approximately 0.5 cm inside the dotted line, leaving an opening large enough so you can fill the toy.
  6. Fill the toy.
  7. Sew closed the opening.

Sorting crates

  1. Print out the crate templates onto A4 paper.
  2. Laminate them.
  3. Cut out and glue/fasten the tabs to create open crates.

Paper monkey finger puppet

(cloth option below)

  1. Print the puppet template onto paper
  2. Place the printed page on top of another piece of paper.
  3. Cut along the solid line and staple along the dotted line.

Cloth monkey finger puppet

  1. Purchase iron-on transfer paper. This is available from Officeworks, Kmart, Spotlight, Lincraft, Arthouse Direct and other craft supply shops.
  2. Print the image onto the transfer paper using an inkjet printer or copier.
  3. Iron the printed image onto fabric. Calico, broadcloth or drill all work well.
  4. Cut along the solid line. Lay the printed side face down on another piece of fabric (wrong sides together).
  5. Sew along the dotted line or a 1-cm seam allowance. Turn and press. Hem the open edge if desired.
