Instructions

This game is designed for 2 to 6 players and requires a dice. Follow these instructions to prepare and play.

Preparation

  1. Paste the two grids from pages 2 and 3 back to back and paste them together. Laminate if desired.
  2. Cut out the 15 double-sided cards and place them randomly on a table or the floor in three rows with the number sides facing up.

Playing

  1. The first child rolls the dice.
  2. They then pick up a card that shows the corresponding number and place it in front of them with the light-bulb side facing up.
  3. The children take turns rolling the dice and placing the card with the corresponding number in front of them.
  4. As the children collect their cards, they lay them out next to each other to form a string of light bulbs.
  5. When there are no cards left with a single number on it, the children can begin to pick up the cards with the two numbers hanging from the tree branches (the ‘wild cards’).
  6. If the child rolls a number and there are no more single number cards or wild cards left, the teacher can either suggest that they miss a turn or that they roll the dice again.
  7. The winner is the child who ends up with the most number of light bulbs on their string once all the cards have been turned over.
  8. A secondary winner could be the child who ends up with the most ‘on’ light bulbs in their string.
